Indian build small fire, get up close and stay warm. White man build big fire, get way back and freeze to death.

I thought Chooky was a rescue bird from an egg factory thus she would have laid many eggs over the past year to a year and a half. My poor chickens only have 20 acres to roam but do not get over 100 yards from their coops.

So true !!!!! The ‘’use by’’ "sell by’’ ‘’best by’’ dates have nothing to do with safety of the product but every thing to do with getting people to throw out said product and buying more so that the producer can sell more of their product.

Best I remember, frogs have an ear spot (tympanum) and the toad does not.

Cool——but many do not know that -40F and -40C are the same.
    Very good post.

Oh you of so little knowledge. Back “in the day” when I started (hot type) printing, there were many small local newspapers that only printed once a week. I have been out of the loop for a long time but there may still be some small town weeklies.

N-G 49 from yesterday——we are part of nature too. If you have a problem with that then stop eating anything that is produced on farms, end of problem. I do not have any of my animals named but I get upset when I lose one to a wild animal. But when a neighbor’s dog kills one of my animals I get very mad!!!!! I do not understand why city folks think that when they move to the country that they need a big dog and let it run loose. Their dog in their yard is their pet but on my farm it is just more vermin that needs to be shot. Meg, find out who that dog belongs to and file on them and ask for $25.00 for the hen and $200.00 for lost egg production.

I like a .22 WMR rifle for varmints, I also carry a .22 WMR revolver loaded with “rat” shot shells for snakes. There was a chicken snake in one of my nests yesterday. Seems that most vermin loves chickens and eggs as much we do.

I miss Meg and her chickens. I had some chicks hatch out about the same time she got her chicks and they have been laying eggs for a long time. Hope the neighbor’s dog did not get into the coop and kill them. I have had that problem as well as foxes and other varmints.
