NHL classic here today- temps sub freezing, snow drifting down, dont know if it is poetic or poetic justice

dtj621: you are so right, this has nothing to do with one cat in the snow but a symbol of all of those who are on the outside in the US and around the world at this time of year supposedly aimed at the message of giving help to the poor and to care for one another with generousity of heart and spirit.
to look at those suffering in the cold of winter see the BBC stories on the refugees of Syria
this is a cartoon but one that often tries for a deeper meaning along with the rueful smiles

they all come with an 800 number- it only takes a brief call to get off the lists and save a tree
ps when you order anew tell them not to put you on their snail mail list or for that matter junk mail list

House cats are wonderful warm companions but ourside unsupervised they are natural killng machines that are decimating wild bird populations- love ’em but keep ’em indoors where they are safe and safe from hurting our equally precious wildlife.

I think Spidman is right. Janis does not look at all relieved or of joy to be where they are right now. I think she may feel that they are actually the foreseen shadow of themselves- if not old in years old in ways. a mid life crisis point feeling that time has passed too quickly to be where they are now and she is not yet old enough to think with surprise- gee I dont feel 60-70-80

I feel very strongly about who to vote for BUT whether my candidate wins or loses it is more important that the winner be the people’s choice=democracy. how can we be an example to the world of a free democratic society when 2/5 of us doesnt take the responsibilty of citizenship seriously
    GET OUT AND VOTE.

baby boomer= born between 1945-65, it says.
that makes them at least late forties but I’ll guess early 50’s with Gene arriving as they had settled into careers- or faced up to realities vs dreams of organic farms, ie the practical 30’s. now is a time they could re-invent their world or find continued satisfaction where they are as they watch Gene and family grow and enjoy their quiet lives together.

never heard of the ’seaman’s’ lore; nice touch if it is true.
but I think a bit of reality; even at its best life can be messy at times.

killjoy?? isnt the marriage supposed to be the joy- it sounds like he thinks marriage is a downer
strange vibe from the clergy or is it our author? who has for years put great joy into J and A marriage.

I am a relatively ‘new’ follower and had not seen the early meeting of G and ML. how well ML’s being is laid out in those few simple panels. an uncertain, insecure but determined young girl, concerned with appearance and lookin’ for love in too many places. the lessons of maturity have been hard won ; and Gene I think has more gumpsion than he seems sometimes- knowing which battles are worth fighting with the young lady. lovely to see that meeting of soulmates who must have recognized their destined connection and held it deep in their hearts through the years- some romantic I am.
