No, but they can always get into hell by hitching a ride on a balding dude’s head.

Monty has a robot companion… and a corded phone.

That’s more in the realm of the history of metallurgy. Was a time once when silver was more valuable than gold – because it was much rarer. Gold is often found in nuggets, whereas almost all silver is locked up in ore. Miners just threw it out because it was useless – but merchants saw the value in figuring out how to separate the rock from the precious silver in the ore.

Once they did figure it out and the merchants started refining metals, it was totally true that “he who dealt it smelted it.”

Chuck chooses who plays? I guess he’s already the team manager.

Hah! When an adult is present, we see that “John” is really just piles of money.

She’s holding her purchase and handing a coin to the cashier. Her words just tell the cashier (and us the viewing audience) what she’s picked out.

    My interpretation —
Panel 1: she’s talking and talking and talking, which he finds annoying.
Panel 2: she’s done talking and leaves.
    Panel 3: he misses her
Panel 4: he has gone to where she is, and resumed the activities of panel 1.

I love the artwork here — subtle changes in the last panel that convey the head turned toward Snoopy.

Just what I came here to say, I thought they were late twenties, maybe as old as mid-thirties. But first communion 36 years ago puts them solidly in their forties.

He was shown at work in earlier strips, as was Janis if I recall correctly.

I don’t think they are retired — if they were, there would surely have been a series of strips about it.

So I’m pretty sure it’s just a narrowing of the focus of the strip to home ilfe. They work, it’s just not the topic of the strip, so we don’t see it.
