Isn’t there some way to prevent advertisements? You would think someone competent handles the website.

I agree that some of the other characters should visit. My favorite was the younger blonde guy that Cathy dated for a while in between Irving make up/break ups.

Obviously the cartoonist ceased to read news in the 1980’s. Jimmy Breslin, the columnist bemoaned the disneyfication of NYC that brought an end to the squeegy men, beggars and people sleeping in the doorway. Rudolph Guiliani did many good things for the big apple.

A community center that is for all in the community would be a blessing. A celebration of the melting pot that makes New York the vibrant center of culture, education and opportunity. NOT a mosque, not a church, not a synogogue. Otherwise you have to open the door to wicans, Buddists, naturalists, etc. COMMUNITY- for all to participate.

One time sports were interesting to watch, when it was a challenge-a contest of endurance and skill. Presently it is a multimillion dollar entertainment package of steroidal automatans to maximize profit. It is a waste of time and money, I would rather watch adolescents achieve than a plastic performance of professionals.

Have you noticed how grey Obama has gotten during his 18 months in office? If only some of that stress could have been channeled into something PRODUCTIVE for the country. Counting the days to election day!

Do you remember the original Star Trek? There was an episode where two societies had been at war for centuries but had “evolved” against conventional warfare. They virtually bombed each other but sent real people into a death closet to die for their country. We are attempting to fight a tidy war. Surgical strikes to remove the bad guys, it hasn’t been working for the past ten years. I wasn’t around for World War II, but civilians sacrificed a lot for the war machine to proceed. There was no 24/7 coverage but everyone was invested in the effort.] Either bomb the mountains into rubble with -no survivors or get out. There is no such thing as a little war!

This isn’t as hard as “they” make it out to be! You can’t spend more than you have; personal, local or federal government. Pave the roads. Defend the country against those that want to harm us. Life, liberty and the PURSUIT of happiness, not a guarantee that we will be happy and it isn’t the government’s responsibility.

Off Track Betting in New York is going bankrupt, yet it has 30 appointed managers that make over $100,000 a year. Illinois may be messed up, but many states are in dire fiscal condition and have inept governors.

The government has extended its tentacles into banking, automotive companies, health care. By not solving the oil crisis, people will demand the government come up with a solution. The solution will be $7 per gallon gasoline, people having lifestyle “choices” forced upon them. Back to one car families and city living.

Change you can believe in. Yeah, change in your pocket where you once had dollars.

Unfunded mandates should be illegal. The states are allowed “the choice” of offering more the minimum, but now that we are going to a nationalized health care plan, shouldn’t Medicaid be a moot issue?

Did you notice it was only older people and caucasion people being blamed for the debt? No people of color, no youngsters nor disabled people.
