    It would be nice to be able to spend more time not having to work, but only if I had enough money to pay my expenses. Being permanently unemployed doesn’t keep the mortgage and utilities paid and food on the table.

    I use algebra on a regular basis, along with geometry and trigonometry. A lot depends on what profession you go into, but I also use them a lot in my hobbies. And yes, Mai, algebra does come in very handy for comparing prices and quantities, especially with grocery stores use different measurements for their “standardized” labeling that’s supposed to make it easier to determine which is the better deal.

    While I was in the Philippines my then sister-in-law and one of her friends got the bowl of Cool Whip out and ate it all, thinking it was ice cream.
