I think you and @rowena28 need to stay away from the comics, lest you both have a nervous breakdown. Better sip your tea and hide in your darkened rooms. Sheesh.

Checked out your link. There’s no date on it. So how do we know it was “years”? And what if someone did it before you? Hmmmm???

The truth hurts? I’m guessing you’re one of those types.

Hey spelling champ, it’s “Despicable Me”. And I thought that series was great. If you don’t like the comic, why do you read it?

    Hello? It’s a cartoon, Einstein.

Anyway, I made my case. Time to split this forum. Adios. Now let the love continue.

Yes, we do. But there’s a difference between self-reference, and veiled narcissism. Most stand-up comedy is observational, so obviously the comedian will be referencing him or herself throughout. That’s different from what Pastis does. I’m guessing he was funnier as a lawyer. And why do I read it? Yes, I suppose it is punishment. I read other strips I don’t like, like the Born Loser and Funky Winkerbean. It’s slightly less painful than self-mutilation and cutting.

Anyone who has taken Psychology 101 in college can see that Pastis tries to appear self-deprecating, only as a means to insert himself repeatedly in his strip to stroke his ego. Yes, he has his characters do the mocking. Does that actually throw you off from what he’s doing?

So when you can’t argue the substance of my post, nitpick the grammar. Miss Enstein, my high school English teacher… nice to hear from you again!
