Yes, you’re right … I just checked and there was one missed out in the sequence. I’ve just uploaded it so it should show up here soon. It should have run earlier in this hairdressing sequence but …. :)

If you are going to San Diego Comic-Con this week, I’ll be signing free prints and postcards all weekend at the National Cartoonists Society booth. I’ll also have some original art for sale … and we’ll have FREE limited edition “Badlands” posters at the Thursday GoComics signing! So make sure you stop by and say hello!

We always just referred to it as the Wild West when advertising Badlands. Although the characters are essentially traditional “cowboy” figures, they actually speak in an British vernacular and encounter modern situations. When the strip launched in 1988, I actually set it in the “old west” but I found that a bit restrictive and it quickly morphed into its own little fantasy world. By the time it ended in 2001, it could veer from gunslingers one week to soccer matches the next. Basically, anything I found amusing :)

    About Badlands
Having debuted in 1988 in the short-lived British daily, The Post, Steve McGarry’s western spoof strip “Badlands” was snapped up the following year by The Sun, Britain’s best-selling newspaper. The silly and saucy antics of Marshal Mask and his motley mob of maladjusted misfits were an immediate hit with the paper’s 7.5 million readers. During its 12-year run in The Sun, Badlands spawned two best-selling book collections in the UK.

I wondered about that … I had Chow Yun-Fat to begin with but when I checked his credits on IMDB, they had him listed as Yun-Fat Chow and I deferred to them. Perhaps I should switch it back?

He played two characters called Darcy … Mark Darcy is his character from the Bridget Jones movies.
