    The “wall” comes from running out of carbohydrate-based glucose. Some endurance athletes are switching to high-fat, adequate-protein, very low carb diets to change their metabolism from primarily carb-fueled to primarily fat-fueled. Even a lean athlete can store 10 times as much energy in fat as they can in carbs, getting rid of the wall in marathons. I got this info from “The Art and Science of Low Carbohydrate Performance.”

    That is a popular misquote. Here is the correct one:
    “The wolf shall dwell with the lamb,
    and the leopard shall lie down with the young goat,
    and the calf and the lion and the fattened calf together;
    and a little child shall lead them.”
    Isaiah 11:6

    Am I the only one around here who knows this farm bill replaces subsides with crop insurance?

    We have subsidized agriculture for decades, but the 2014 farm bill begins the elimination of subsidies and replaces them with crop insurance.

    Too bad that human nature is incompatible with a classless society.

    Virginia has had voter ID laws for a while. Have you noticed anyone complaining they did not get to vote because of that?

    “…the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.” The opening phrase “A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state…” describes the purpose, but the second phrase says who the right belongs to, “the people.”

    The civil government has cared about AIDS. In 2005, “According to the FAIR Foundation, NIH research money budgeted per death is $162,790 for AIDS versus $10,245 for Alzheimer’s,” despite over 4.5 million Americans having Alzheimer’s compared to less than 400 thousand with AIDS. The discrepancy favoring aids research has increased since then despite Alzheimer’s increasing at a far faster rate than AIDS.
