I think humans are living in a much larger mystery than our religions are able to mine. On the surface are the magicians and illusionists, beneath that are the morals that ask us to consider not being a greedy bastard and please stop being such a dick about how awesome you are, and then beneath that (or beyond it) is the land of enchantment, the place beyond words, the ultimate “jewel in the lotus.” Our modern religions are actually artifacts from another era, and lack the immediacy of an organically conceived awakening/birth. God used to be closer when we were blind.
