My grandmother was born in 1899 and wouldn’t have waited for a man to ask. She’d have steamrolled right over him. Assuming she was interested in getting married.

However Val feels about Phil, it takes a LOT of trust for a woman with two young daughters to bring a man into the house. Based on the storyline, the girls both like Phil and might be willing to accept him as a step-father. The stage is set here – it will be interesting to see where it goes.

My brother was always collecting stuff. It came from the back yard or someplace we had been. We had all the equipment needed, most of it second or third hand and sitting in the garage ready to use. Many breakfast, lunch, and dinner conversation revolved around his latest acquisition. It was great. It’s not something we would have done on our own, but the rest of the family learned a lot, including how to look more closely at the world.

My brother and I are in our 60s and can still connect on that level. Never stop having fun!

I love Phil’s expression… And for those wondering why their relationship doesn’t seem to move along, this could be it.

An education doesn’t just happen in college and as someone else pointed out, college isn’t for everyone. I work with people who have everything from a HS diploma or GED to a PhD. They all contribute and some of the people without advanced degrees can do more than the super-specialized PhDs and engineers.

Once volunteered to feed cats for friends going out of town for a few days. Was told as they were leaving that one cat was on medication – a shot and a pill. The shot wasn’t too bad, but even using the towel method, the pill was. The cats didn’t like each other, but the other cat attacked me as I tried to force the pill down its enemy’s throat. Go figure. Never volunteered to feed the darling critters again.

My son has been known to have that same conversation with anyone he thinks I’m serious about. He’s 34 now, but it started when he was 17 and I was newly single. I was widowed from the last person he warned last year and he tells me he’s looking forward to restarting the tradition.

I just kept an eye on what kind of porn my son was looking at (and it was pretty innocuous). He is well into adulthood now and knows better, but at the time he didn’t know about deleting temp files.

My favorite is sitting in a meeting at work when someone’s cell phone goes off for anything at all and everyone reaches for theirs.
