In 1998 Bob Hope was given an honorary knighthood but having been adopted into an American couple since the age of 4, he wasn’t allowed to use it!

Xmas wouldn’t be Xmas without these two! Link.

Thank you for posting that tribute to Bob Hope. Having been born in London, it’s a sin that he didn’t receive a knighthood.

So glad you enjoyed it. Like pcolli said, the series suffered occasionally from weak story lines and scripts, mainly due to the challenging topic of buses but the majority of the episodes are classics thanks to the perfect casting!

One of Britain’s most successful sit-coms ran from 1969-1973. It was called ‘On The Buses’ and not surprisingly, it followed the exploits of bus driver Stan Butler both at work and at home.

By the 7th and final series, its star Reg Varney who played Stan Butler had left the series along with co-star Michael Robbins who was tremendous as his long suffering brother-in-law Arthur.

This episode is remarkable for the fact that it’s still hilarious despite the loss of two major characters. This is due to the brilliant performances of Stephen Lewis as Blakey and Bob Grant as Jack. Enjoy! Link.

    Thought For Today.

Tonight ( in the Northern Hemisphere) is the longest night in the history of the Earth.

My mother was very charitable. I’ll never forget the occasion when she invited a tramp to Xmas dinner.

    What a farce!

Hey it does look like a shaving brush! It’s supposed to be a Xmas cracker (A.K.A. Xmas bon bon) and I wish I’d illustrated it differently.

I’m being invited to a 2nd interview in the New Year. I’m not familiar with ‘2nd interviews’ but I’m assuming I’ll get a guided tour.
