He will grow and adapt, the human’s greatest characteristic.
I agree. He absolutely should.
Gunther IS good, agreed. But I think he’ll get chewed up by our world which both expects him to promote himself wisely and assertively and be savvy about the schemes of others. He believes in the Golden Rule, which few people really follow. Another way to put it: “If you snooze, you lose.” Sorry Gunther old buddy – hope you get that wake up call early.
A number of my friend’s kids have done Americore after college didn’t work. I’ve heard only positive reviews about the experiences.
If hasn’t been said, Peace Corp does mostly require a 4 year degree or very special skills.

“…All are thrilled when a decent man…” I think you raise a perspective of needs and thoughts that should be thought through and appreciated. I haven’t walked a mile in those shoes, that’s true. And maybe we’re not giving credit to Gunth for the guy he is. Not gay certainly, but obviously very sensitive, expressive, and very needy. It would be a fair question to ask what does Rosa see in him at their ages. Women appreciating “nice guys”, not to mention guys pretty immature, needy and insecure, are usually older, more mature. As a nice guy, he’s very needy and insecure, even more than we thought. Maybe Quill, the nice guy that is not needy or insecure will model that confidence for him this “year.” But the Luann conflict may take Greg’s center stage.
It’s just that these situations seem contrived. But its just a comic strip, let’s all have fun.
I’m going to have to side with you completely on this one. Are we in some bizarro universe? Isn’t this the first time Gunther has been more excited than anxious about anything, even Rosa?
Making a nice salsa are we?
In Frank’s mind: Luann marries Q and moves to A. Those tickets cost a bundle. See ya once a year, maybe. Bye Bye Mrs. Quill.
@overtherainbow on “Aunt Harriett” Thanks for the nice story and tie in. Enjoyed. I always enjoyed Sunday morning puzzles on NPR.
