    Yes there was remote access to answering machines by then. In 1986 I had one I could call and not only get messages but turn on the microphone in it for a couple of minutes to listen to what was going on in the house.

    A lot of the time the baggers would like to help you to the car so they can get out of the store for a few minutes and not be standing there bagging. A couple of them admitted that to me.

    There was cable then, not like today, but there was cable. There were VCR’s in those days, both Betamax and VHS! There was plenty of home recording being done. I did it myself fairly often.
