    Much too true.

NYT – Roger Cohen: Trump and the End of Truth

(Many of the comments with that column are amazing, too…)

And what does it say about the TrumperNutters who support him?

Look, if ever I’ve seen someone with adult ADHD/ADD, it’s Donald J. tRump. He seems to hit every diagnostic criterion. Not only are they erratic and unreliable, and frequently psycho-/sociopathic, one of the salient characteristics of someone with severe untreated ADHD is that it is often nearly impossible for them to distinguish truth from fiction. They almost don’t know they are lying. I’m not saying any of this to be mean; just Google it:

ADHD and ADD are accepted in the DSM as formal diagnoses, psycho- and sociopathy are merely informal descriptors although they certainly fit. That said, it is well understood that ADD/ADHD, especially if untreated, can lead to an unfortunate spectrum of social and psychological pathologies, including Narcissistic and/or Antisocial Personality Disorders, compulsive lying and a host of other disordered behaviors. Donald J. tRump is the poster-child for this, and has recently and often been held up as an exemplar of such sociopathic behavior.

Well, Calvin is an “only,” one who seems to express many of the traditional symptoms. It also seems that Suzie might be one too. Usually, two onlies are a very bad mix.

So “Dandelion Head” is doing Great Things, Big Important Secret Things that he will not/can not explain. Hmm… When was this strip drawn?

Indeed, and Kaffekup has a point, too. One of the saddest, and most salient, characteristics of the right-wing is their utter humorlessness. Satire and irony are seemingly beyond their ability and/or comprehension. I believe it may say something rather profound about the right-wing person’s fundamental nature. No fun.

I believe that you have a point, that Americans, ALL Americans, prefer to get their news wrapped in entertainment. Fox “News” is at one, humorless, end, but at the other is Colbert, Stewart, Bee et al., not to mention sundry political comics. Flip sides of the same coin, perhaps?

Something to think about: Once upon a time, good ol’ Uncle Joe Stalin, who seemed to know a thing or two about elections, said something to the effect that “It is enough that the people know there was an election. The people who cast the votes decide nothing. The people who count the votes decide everything.” The Republicans, who are so very worried about voter fraud, clearly learned something from Uncle Joe.

Then there is this story: It’s apocryphal, but it seems that about the same time some Texas (of course) politician one-upped Uncle Joe. He supposedly allowed that he really didn’t care how the people voted. All he wanted to do was choose the candidates.

But that American saint, Mark Twain, (supposedly) put it most succinctly: “If voting made any difference they wouldn’t let us do it.”

    Can you say President Pence?

Look, should the ultimate horror occur, and The Don comes to be elected POTUS, how long do you suppose it will take for Congress to impeach and convict that Bozo? A week? A month, max? Every Democrat and half of the Republican Congress-critters would be right on it. It would undoubtedly be the first act of the new Congress. So… Consider who you are ACTUALLY voting for for POTUS.

And while you’re mulling that one over, keep in mind who is third in line for the Presidency. It’s happened before, you know.
