    It’s ‘musabi’. The real reason spam is so popular in Hawaii and Guam is because sailors and marines in WWII would trade spam (often the only meat available for weeks at a time onboard ship) for other food with the local population. Also, because Hawaii did not become a state until 1959 they did not receive nearly as much ‘Spam and government cheese’ welfare handouts that gave spam a reputation as sub par, ‘poor people’ food….

    I own several Dilbert books. In one of them he wrote notes about his strips telling anecdotes and bits of background information about them. For this story arc he was trying to make fun of people who are extremely large, not fat. (you will see in a few days the woman is twice dilbert’s size). When it originally published he caught a lot of flak because people thought he was making fun of fat people then, too.
