Because parents can’t watch children every single moment. And taking a few minutes to talk to a friend while a child is happily playing is a rare luxury.

Yes, heaven forbid one should be truthful in a marriage. And truthful in a way which lets your spouse know how much he is appreciated. What IS this world coming to?

My son was “washing the dishes” when he was four. I was there, of course, but he did get water everywhere. Children “play” to learn real work. Seriously, didn’t you teach your children this way as well?

Completely common for children to construct “what-if” scenarios. Because children are so very reliant on parents, parental absence is always cause for a bit of anxiety. Which is why parents who tell their kids in stores “If you don’t get up, I’m just going to leave you” make me want to slap them.

I’m a little astonished that you feel the name to explain governmental affairs. Even if you aren’t cognizant of Canadian ways, assuming the general public must be spoonfed is a tad condescending. I’m sure you don’t mean it that way, but it does come off as such.

As a lit teacher, I can tell you what I tell my students. You’re allowed to have an opinion, but it means nothing if you can’t back it up from the text. :) For me and for other lit teachers, telling WHY you think that is more important than the opinion.

Learning music also improves analytical and math skills. Even if they never play it again, it benefits their brains!

@howtheduck why would you think Elly would need to get all bundled up for going outside for 10 seconds? And do we need to hear her say “Come on in”? She’s the only one there. I think NightShade has a valid point. You do often seem very negative when it’s , you know, just a comic.
