    Comic strip parents often feel kind of dated. I think a lot of people base them on their own parents. And considering if you’re doing a comic strip you’re probably an adult yourself, you’re depicting parents of a different generation than a contemporary child would actually have. So instead I based Phoebe’s parents on my nerdy friends.

    I’m really not being edited any more stringently than I was before. The sales kit (which also doubled as the first six weeks of the print strip) went through a ton of versions and did get passed between several editors, but as far as day to day stuff goes, I have the same editor I’ve had for years and we’re pretty much doing what we’ve always done.
    Honestly, retitling the strip was the only big change anyone asked me to make.
