So…this week’s strips might not be the most timely ever, and also might be a little bit more ponderous than funny. I apologize for that in advance.
There’s a lot going on right now and it’s mostly awesome…but I’ve also just learned that my cat, Gladys, who sits in my lap while I draw so many of these strips, is terminally ill.
So…please bear with me, and keep my kitty in your thoughts.

Color version, as it appears in the forthcoming “Unicorn on a Roll.”

I feel like I should have something insightful to say about this, but I don’t. It’s a thing, we will all get used to it.

I suppose it’s different for me because I’ve known for a year that this was coming, and even before that, from the moment I pitched the title “Heavenly Nostrils,” my editor said “we can launch it online under that name, but marketing will probably insist we change it before the print launch.” At the time I was just tired of trying to name my strip, which longtime fans will remember began life as a strip called “Girl” that didn’t even contain a unicorn.

It is what it is! As I noted on twitter, the book is called ‘Phoebe and Her Unicorn’ too, and has done rather well.

But that’s so much less fun to write!

This of course was originally a black and white daily, in 2012. I revised it for publication purposes, and it seemed worth sharing! (Back to the original stuff forthwith!)

Actually, since you can’t quit something you aren’t doing, you’re arguably failing every year! (I am a big downer!)

I’ve been making comic strips for…going on 20 years. In that time, I’ve learned that there really are a finite number of things to even SAY about the holidays.
This, however, is one of them!
