    I think that the castile nut probably wasn’t the original source of the “Jesus” name… Rather, the “Jesus” name was probably referenced back to the diesel engines that had the linkage from a layshaft to the injector, wherein there was a pin that was held in by a very small clip that the mechanic would call the “Jesus pin”; he had to take his protective gloves off in order to apply this clip to the pin — and if (when) he dropped the clip, he would exclaim “Jesus!!!”, hence the name. Worked on very many locomotives, and this was a common term being used…
