Aunts aren’t what they used to be. When I was a child, everyone had at least one aunt who was reputed to be ‘wild’, at least to the extent of wearing flashy garments and dyeing her hair. The more enterprising had a full set: the one who was a fire-eating radical, the one who was an intellectual or and artist and kept a parrot, the one who married way rich and lived on a ranch in Montana, the one who conversed with people in flying saucers. But that was in the old days. I guess aunts have declined like everything else.

Sanders doesn’t need the corporate media. In fact, it’s better if they don’t notice him at first.

I liked the original Arabian Nights version better, especially the part where the Djinn of the West sealed Osama bin Laden in a great jug with 108 curses and Seal of Solomon on it, and caused a great roc to carry it out over the Indian Ocean, where it was dropped into the sea, Or handed over to sea monsters. Whatever. The new version is all too realistic.

According to the Charter of the Nuremberg War Crimes trials, starting an aggressive war without provocation is a crime against humanity. There is no doubt that such a crime was committed by the United States government, and the question is who was responsible for it. A war crimes trial of Bush, Cheney, Powell, Rumsfeld, Rice, Tennet, and so on would have determined whether the perpetrators were merely misinformed and stupid, or lying. If they were actually misinformed, those who misinformed them would also be put on trial.

There is also the question of the responsibility of instigators, like Perle and Wolfowitz, and accomplices, like Senator Clinton. In some cases, the Nuremberg war crimes trials punished such people.

Of course such a trial is politically impossible. But it is pretty clear how things would turn out if the U.S. followed the same principles it laid out in 1946.

I like gymastics — to watch, I can’t do any. Every now and then I watch the videos of Nadia Comaneci getting a perfect score at the 1976 Olympics.

If you like direct combat, and find pro wrestling too silly, there are several kinds of martial arts that do not necessarily involve permanently damaging your opponent.

However, if you like grosser stuff, why not have gladiatorial combat? Why hide the damage?

I thought the ‘Q’ was for ‘Queer’, which sort of covers all the other things the majority supposedly don’t like.

Today they have Stop & Frisk. I know quite a few people who have been detained for simply standing around, or walking down the street. This is called ‘productivity’ and goes back to broken-window theory.

Apparently the cartoon was changed after the CEO comments were entered.
