I liked the original Arabian Nights version better, especially the part where the Djinn of the West sealed Osama bin Laden in a great jug with 108 curses and Seal of Solomon on it, and caused a great roc to carry it out over the Indian Ocean, where it was dropped into the sea, Or handed over to sea monsters. Whatever. The new version is all too realistic.

According to the Charter of the Nuremberg War Crimes trials, starting an aggressive war without provocation is a crime against humanity. There is no doubt that such a crime was committed by the United States government, and the question is who was responsible for it. A war crimes trial of Bush, Cheney, Powell, Rumsfeld, Rice, Tennet, and so on would have determined whether the perpetrators were merely misinformed and stupid, or lying. If they were actually misinformed, those who misinformed them would also be put on trial.

There is also the question of the responsibility of instigators, like Perle and Wolfowitz, and accomplices, like Senator Clinton. In some cases, the Nuremberg war crimes trials punished such people.

Of course such a trial is politically impossible. But it is pretty clear how things would turn out if the U.S. followed the same principles it laid out in 1946.

I like gymastics — to watch, I can’t do any. Every now and then I watch the videos of Nadia Comaneci getting a perfect score at the 1976 Olympics.

If you like direct combat, and find pro wrestling too silly, there are several kinds of martial arts that do not necessarily involve permanently damaging your opponent.

However, if you like grosser stuff, why not have gladiatorial combat? Why hide the damage?

I thought the ‘Q’ was for ‘Queer’, which sort of covers all the other things the majority supposedly don’t like.

Today they have Stop & Frisk. I know quite a few people who have been detained for simply standing around, or walking down the street. This is called ‘productivity’ and goes back to broken-window theory.

Apparently the cartoon was changed after the CEO comments were entered.

The Third World might have been more greatly helped other than by having the money pass through Mr. Gates’s pocket, if that’s what someone wanted to do. The damage Mr. Gates and his company did to the development of personal computer software and those who use it by basically sitting on the field for twenty years is hard to compute, but it probably outweighs the philanthropy many times over.

I don’t think the fact that Mr. Paul is shifting his positions on numerous issues in order to bring about some possibility of getting elected is insignificant. It’s been discussed a good deal in Reason. Maybe it’s not funny any more.

For the US, it would be a lot of work to invade North Korea, with no payoff. China, on the other hand, has some big problems with North Korea. So I believe North Korea’s nuclear effort is to keep off the Chinese, not the Americans.

‘Taliban are just human like us’. True, no doubt, but they’re much less efficient. Compare the body counts.
