They don’t look like cupcakes to me. My vote is that they’re “healthly” low fat, high sugar, high sodium bran muffins.

The reality is that “use” is pronounced differently depending on how it’s being used in a sentence. I hadn’t really paid attention to that until I saw this strip.
The cafeteria wants the trays returned after YOOSE (like moose). Ruthie’s mom might remind her to YOOZE (like booze) toothpaste when she brushes her teeth.
So Ruthie pronounces “use” like “yooze” because that is the pronunciation that she’s more familiar with because it goes witht he usage that she’s more familiar with. Then, since it doesn’t sound like “yoose,” they don’t know what it means.
English is pretty cool, isn’t it?

Anyone wanna bet that tomorrow he relents and asks her what the issue is and finds out it’s nothing like what he thought it would be?

They have red-light cameras and unmanned toll booths in southern California, too.

Steve is a redhead. I’ve seen him in original color many. many times. This is either someone else or the color was done wrong.

Argh!! It’s A.D. 868, not 868 A.D. Why, why, why, do otherwise reasonably educated English speakers so often make this error?

Math majors aren’t automatically people with sterling virtue. I can vouch for this by my own college experience.
