    It may well be quite old. Helicopters like this are easy to find – almost all coaxial twin-rotor helicopters come from the Soviet/Russian Kamov design bureau, and this is no exception. It looks like some version of the Ka-27 family, maybe that, maybe the older Ka-20. If it’s a Ka-27, it could easily have been 20 years old at the time the strip was drawn, but it’s more likely a Ka-25 (produced until 1977) or a Ka-20 variant (early 1960s).

    They have small lockers. When I was in high school we had full-height lockers, in a 4-year HS with over 2000 students. Just about every scrap of hallway wall that wasn’t stairwell, window, or door was covered with lockers.
