Also called a Hungarian Scent Hound. Nearly extinct in the 1960s. It was a central Asian dog breed that came with the Magyar tribes in the 9th Century, and breed with local breeds including the Polish Hound.

Originally bred to hunt game (fox, boar, deer, stag and lynx). The breed was refined for the Carpathian Mountains, (forests, meadows and rivers) and can hunt in all four seasons and over various terrains.

Modern day there are two varieties, the “long legged” for hunting bigger game like deer, and stag; and the “short legged” for burrowing game like hare and fox.

The breed is extremely loyal and friendly. They are very good natured and well mannered with both people and other dogs. They form strong attachments to their owners and are very protective of family members. It is very protective of its immediate territory (i.e. owners’ house and yard), and will appear very ferocious with an intimidating bark and growl towards strangers; however, it will immediately accept anyone who is invited into the area by its owners. They enjoy constant companionship and tend to remain in the presence of their owners. They have an excellent sense of direction.

    “High Flight”

Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of EarthAnd danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;Sunward I’ve climbed, and joined the tumbling mirthof sun-split clouds, — and done a hundred thingsYou have not dreamed of — wheeled and soared and swungHigh in the sunlit silence. Hov’ring there,I’ve chased the shouting wind along, and flungMy eager craft through footless halls of air….Up, up the long, delirious, burning blueI’ve topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace.Where never lark, or even eagle flew —And, while with silent lifting mind I have trodThe high untrespassed sanctity of space,- Put out my hand, and touched the face of God.

Pasque – dream on and dream big!!! Where’s his Angel to help?

My three like “steamed” broccoli, carrots (in small “match stick” or coins) peas, (they LOVE frozen peas in summer) and almost any other veggie. Cabbage leaves – no, but that thick part – yes, Oh, no spinach please. They also like some fruits, melons (and pumpkin), tomatoes (love them!) and cucumber slices. They will gorge on blue berries, but not on strawberries, like cherries, and prunes, but not plums.

Does not matter, there is a reason it’s called “Disturbing a Hornets’ Nest,” “Bad idea” You both are bound for a “world of hurt” for doing that.

Had my three (Golden, Lab & Shepherd) looking at me like that before breakfast. Fred would fit in nicely with the pack.
