Want to remember Shrub Bush who carried out a two-fer but getting a certain general, who might have been able to challenge the Bush team for control but not after he was talked into shilling for all those lies his commander-in-chief told him to say to justify making billions for Halliburton. So Shrub was really a liberal? I never would have guessed.

I notice those who are yelling about sending in troops are themselves exempt from age, sex or mental balance from actually having to do the fighting. Remember Iraq? How did troops improve that? These wars are a power struggle between Sunnis and Shi’ites they’ve been fighting for hundreds of years. They will not stop because some outside force brings about a temporary halt. They’ll just oil and wrap and weapons and put them under the sand until the next opportunity arises to kill their neighbors.

You know they had to be forced to admit the truth, but at least now they have. That doesn’t, however, mean they’ll do anything about it.

From an op-ed in the LA Times at http://www.latimes.com/opinion/op-ed/la-oe-lewis-dogs-environmentalism-20141102-story.html on the environmental impact of dogs:
“Dog poop does contain nutrients — the kind that, when washed down storm drains into streams and the ocean, fuel toxic algae blooms that suck up oxygen and turn coastal habitats into dead zones. Stephan Budiansky, in his book, “The Truth About Dogs,” claims that dogs serve as reservoirs for 65 diseases that can be transmitted to humans. A dog, per pound of body weight, produces 10 times the fecal coliform of a cow." On the other hand, dogs are magical creatures that manage to love humans in spite of ourselves. (Disclosure: I live with three cats; no dogs).

The rightie-tighties keep their flock trained to disregard facts, learning and curiosity so that they will automatically believe whatever they are told by their political leaders. Those leaders are in turn well funded by the moneyed classes and deliver votes. Makes one almost nostalgic for a time when corrupt political leaders at least paid people for their votes by giving them jobs.

This is absolutely the best series! And poor Elvis.

Really those two need to find other people to annoy. That’s not a relationship; it’s a cold war.

The only thing worthwhile about this editorial strip is that it provokes accurate and cited responses. Mr. Bok should be ashamed to be doing no more than repeating the Ailes party line.

The Republicans are an ongoing embarrassment, but since their only objectives are power and money for themselves, they care not at all about the country. Globalization ended patriotism that’s for sure. The only reason they refuse to do anything about global extreme weather is because it does not affect them personally. Their air conditioners work fine, and if they don’t like the weather, they jet off somewhere the weather is better. Their corporate paymasters are the same. To change the Republicans it is necessary to change their paymasters. That can only be done through revolution, but they really don’t believe that will happen in their lifetimes and care no more for their children than they do for anyone else.

It’s a container chosen for shipping, not use.
