Keep the sensible shoes, Bernice—Luann is going to regret tottering all over the city in heels if they actually do a little sight-seeing. But a nice outfit would not come amiss.

I like the Oxford comma very much, having been taught to use it back in the 80s, and I loathe greengrocer’s apostrophes (I didn’t know there was a name for them until now; thanks!).

Perhaps you should wait until it’s done and read it all at once (like a book?). There are other webcomics that have had slow periods that improved mightily when I went back and read them all at once.
Mind, I don’t have your issues here, but it’s worked in other places. Give it a try!

Cream a little off the top for expenses—wouldn’t you?
But where on Earth can people hide their little piece of Heaven?
    Thank God for Switzerland
Where a girl and a guy with a little petty cash between them
Can be sure when they deposit no-one’s seen them
