There are print versions of these comics in which only the face is “Censored” rather than the whole body being “Redacted.”

I seem to recall he changed it to “God-intended” in television performances. But I personally take the original as implying: if there even is a God, we’re not getting any help from him, but we still have the right to be loved.

When yesterday began, he was in an established relationship and expected it to go on forever. By the end of the day, it was all over. So “yesterday” is both his last happy day AND the day everything came crashing down. The lyric makes sense the way it’s written.

“Be through my lips to unawaken’d earth
The trumpet of a prophecy! O Wind,
If Winter comes, can Spring be far behind?”
