Calling that little guy “Tranny” sounds like it would prove to be a VERY bad idea.

Maybe it’s just me, but that sounds exactly like the definition of “jealous.”

I love the reference to “Rosemary’s Baby” that he sneaked in there. :D

Re: the camp instructor’s weird face angle: I figured that we were looking at her from the perspective of the students, as it would be pretty normal for the instructor to be standing on a stage above the students.

There was a guy I got stuck sitting next to last semester who was constantly doing that. Yeah, it was early in the morning. Yeah, it was a math class. But if you’re feeling so put out by being here, then why not just drop the class? He would just randomly sigh repeatedly during class. And before, too. That is, the days he wasn’t late…

There are times when Mr. Evans’s portrayal of people is less than realistic. This is not one of those times. That last panel is too perfect. :)

As much as I love, love, love this story, it would be really nice to see a new Christmas story here sometime.

Anyone should be happy to receive such compliments—telling your closest friend about them is hardly bragging. Friends should be happy that you are happy and doing well. Being proud of your work and being happy about a teacher appreciating what you’ve done is nowhere near the same thing as bragging. :/ I’m all for teaching against bragging, but this was a bad way to do it. :/

A few things: High school will always be war. She does have a point there. Yes, she is being self-centered, but was the assignment explained properly? I know she’s a ditz, but what if the schools she’s been to just didn’t really talk about veterans and what they’ve done for us? Also, this speaks to idea that some words are getting way overused these days, to the point that they’ve lost some of their meaning. We tend to slap words like “veteran” and “premium” on everyone and everything.

She was pointing to her breast. I think they didn’t want to try to figure out how to say “boob” tactfully.
