Any Calvin & Hobbes fan would know Pastis is not Watterson. Watterson is about 10 years older, thin, and shuns publicity. Watterson is serious about art; Pastis can barely cartoon.

You have to live in a decent climate (Pastis’ California) to ever need to do this. In the south, it’s always too hot from May to early October to ever layer clothes like that. I’ve never seen anyone in the south tie a sweater around their neck.

The problem is Stephan’s cap is backward, which was always a stupid look, and is generally associated with those under 25.

The problem with American doctors is the system, such as it is, was set up to make doctors rich. Most only care about the money they make. One patient dead doesn’t matter, so long as another sucker shows up to take their place.

I think this was a 1960’s & 1970’s attitude. Now that most of the middle class seems to have pools, they’ve moved on to other status symbols, like stupid huge luxury SUVs.

I was a kid when this strip first appeared, and I could have told Trudeau that “mommy” is NOT what most girls would have said back then. That’s more of a 1950s answer.

If the cartoonist would be realistic, this would lead to drunk driving and possibly unplanned pregnancy. Not a good idea, kids! “Wild” just means stupid.

In Texas, March comes in like a lion and goes out like a lion. Then April comes in like a lion and goes out like a lion. They May . . . and so on and so on. Weather doesn’t get very nice until November.

I don’t think any high-schoolers truly don’t want to go to the prom. They just can’t afford it or weren’t asked, and can’t go in an area that won’t let you go by yourself. Also, I’d figure that someone who went solo would be terribly self-conscious if they ended up alone all evening in the crowd of happy kids.

I don’t think Delta truly feels this way. She’s rationalizing that her idea is better and certainly more noble than going to the prom, because she wasn’t asked to the prom. Better to act like it’s your choice than just what was foisted upon you by the fact that the males in your class are idiots who don’t appreciate you.
