Castro clever?!??? The guy is practically mummified, is economy is in ruins, and his brother Raoul isn’t much better off. It’s just as well that Obama is spending a lot of time attending to foreign policy issues, since he won’t be able to influence any more legislation for the next two years.

I think you’re taking Britt’s cartoon too seriously. It is NOT a partisan statement, and you chose to gloss over its message, which you admitted but did not consider important. There are far more deadly diseases (and social causes of death) in this country, and the fear and paranoia about Ebola is unjustified. It’s a severe problem in West Africa, but if Nigeria can stop its spread (as it apparently has), then so can the USA.

Look back at braindead08’s question, and answer it if you can. Voter fraud may be a potential problem, but I don’t believe it is a problem now (except in some people’s imaginations). Why all the legislative fuss and bother to make laws about it, when there are much more pressing problems to address?

You’ve summed up the situation quite nicely, DLee4144. As an addendum, I would paraphrase what Bill Maher stated on his HBO program last Friday night (June 13) — that Protestants and Catholics spent much of the 16th (and part of the 17th) century in Europe killing each other over who was better Christian; now it is Islam’s time for a similar war of Sunni vs. Shiite, and this is THEIR business, not ours. We can only hope to mitigate the collateral damage.

So, Harleyquinn (and I STILL think your icon is cute)j, you deny coal-burning power plants in the USA as significant sources of air pollution (but at least you acknowledge them as such in China), and therefore CO2 is not a problem. But global climate change is just that -GLOBAL- and denying the science of warming temperatures and rising sea levels won’t mean they won’t happen. Science is true whether you believe it or not (to quote Neil Degrasse Tyson). To reduce CO2 levels (or even just to slow down their increased concentration in the atmosphere and oceans) will require multiple technologies in nearly every country. America should lead in this effort — part of the burden of being the world’s most powerful nation.

Yes, they are a potential technology for the future. But they won’t be built unless we can figure out how to set them up in Kentucky, West Virginia and Wyoming (the biggest coal-producing states).

You don’t have facts, you have undocumented numbers. When disruptive technologies are introduced (and in the case of climate change, out of necessity, whether we like it or not), problems will arise and other problems will be solved. Nobody today bemoans the collapse of New England’s whaling industry in the late 19th century because the country began switching to petroleum. Yes, China is now the world’s largest polluter (of CO2 and practically everything else), but America must lead by example. Denying science doesn’t change the facts, Harleyquinn. Doing nothing just means that our children and grandchildren will have to pay all the more for the stupidity and stubbornness of people like you.

Conservatives hate paying taxes, but they’ll willingly shovel out thousands of dollars to listen to this moron espouse her silly opinions and misinformation.

WHAT heavy-handed tactics? The BLM sent a few agents armed with pistols to confront him and his dozens of militia-patriot loonies armed with assault rifles. Bundy has been thumbing his nose at the BLM for years; they were only upholding the rule of law and court orders.

Hawthorne, apparently you forgot about our Constitution’s preamble sentence that includes “…promote the general welfare…” It IS our government’s job to protect us from preventable diseases, or have you forgotten how plagues wiped out a third of Europe’s population in the middle ages?
