Think of data like water flowing into your sink. If it flows out of the sink at the same rate it flows into the sink, the sink doesn’t fill up and the water flows smoothly indefinitely. But if there’s a partial clog, the water can’t exit the sink as fast as the water enters the sink, and the sink starts filling up and will eventually overflow.
    .
Video data kind of works like water into a sink, if you replace the word “sink” with “buffer.” The computer starts sending all those frames of video data, and if you can consume it as fast as the computer sends it, the viewing is smooth. But if your internet connection is slower than your viewer, then the data (water) fills the buffer (sink) and it overflows, causing the video to stop updating until the clog can get passed.

It’s been a while since I’ve seen the Rocky series. What kind of math did it teach?

I think it’s a play on full-service gas stations. In the olden days, when you went in for gas, the attendant also checked your fluids and washed your windshield and back window.

Well, actually as companies automate, they let go of the workers who used to do the manual work that the automation replaced. They don’t keep you around indefinitely not doing work while the machines do what you used to do. You collect unemployment for a while, but when it runs out, you better have trained for another type of employment so that a new employer is paying you by then, to do real work.
    .
If we really want to be idle while machines earn our livings for us, we’d have to buy robots that we rent out to companies, and then we’d live off the robot rent.
