How do you know that Miley Cyrus isn’t into drugs? Janis Joplin was a heroin addict and had everybody fooled into thinking she just liked Southern Comfort a lot. Deborah Harry was addicted to heroin too and nobody knew it until she came out and told a reporter.

Stevie Nicks was addicted to cocaine and nobody knew it until she too told the press.

Grace Slick was an alcoholic and everybody thought she did LSD.

Conspicuous product placement. Is Mr. Basset getting a little extra $$$ from the Crunch people?

Cable or Satellite has good stuff too, informative stuff. You just have to be a little picky. Mythbusters doesn’t just blow stuff up. They teach science, physics but in a wacky fun way. But hey it’s also fun to watch them blow stuff up. If you really want no frills hard core information there are the CSPAN channels.

i’ll admit it I watch Chelsea Lately and Fashion Police on E! but I also watch Consider This on Aljazeera America, Anderson Cooper 360.

SyFy has some really intelligent shows wrapped up in Science Fiction/Fantasy. Being Human, Lost Girl, Defiance, and Haven are basically character studies. The characters often face choices and then are presented with an alternate reality when a different choice is made. Lost Girl explores sexual diversity and what makes a person good or bad. It also looks at exploitation and discrimination from a different angle.

Haven is based on a Steven King story and has all of the New England Gothic elements that come with Steven King books.

Reminds me of Jake our Pit Bull Lab mix at the shelter where I volunteer.

Russian wolves are very hardy indeed. The wolves in Chernobyl are not only flourishing but according to scientific genetic testing, don’t show any signs of genetic mutations.

My niece’s pit bull Samantha likes to put frogs in her mouth. She doesn’t eat them, and will spit them out when asked….but she really likes doing this during night walks.

When I train my client’s dogs, I cut up turkey hot dogs and string cheese into small pieces. The dogs love them!

Putin, a tad on the creepy side is unstated to the extreme. Anti-gay laws, and when gays/lesbians/transgenderd get attacked and beaten the government looks the other way. The dogs of Sochi were killed by the thousands with poison darts. Many had been houshold pets that had to be let go when the government bulldozed peoples homes in Sochi to make way for the venue. Then the barbaric attack on Pussy Riot when they tried to play at Sochi. This is Putin’s Russia. A tad creepy? How about barbaric, inhumane and morally corrupt?

What I can’t understand is what is the objection to background checks? Sites like Care.com that connect baby sitters, nannies and pet sitters with families encourage background checks. Nobody kicks up a fuss about that. So what is the problem with background checks for gun ownership? It’s designed to filter out the bad guys.
