After a while I went out and left the hospital and walked back to the hotel in the rain.

Ah, thank you, Shilly Halliburton. I missed seeing that the whole phrase was hyphenated, and additionally (since the text is in all caps) thought there were intended capital letters in " A-Boat". So I thought that was a kind of boat, just as “U-Boat” would be — and of course didn’t know what " A-Boat glasses" are, any more than " U-Boat glasses".

Of course I follow the overall point. But unfortunately I have no clue what “A-Boat” is supposed to stand for.

comicsssfan, do you remember the VERY early days of “On a Claire Day”? Claire was single, and was allowed to be attractive, and attracted to different men, and to flirt a little. Once she met Paul and settled down, any element of romance or sexy interaction got squashed into this domesticity. A big downhill slide, if you ask me.
