    @cabalonrye: Nope. Pratchett said that he got the idea from elsewhere (an “Indo-European sophistication”). If you search for “In Indian Myth Our World is Supported by Four Elephants Standing on the Back of a Giant Turtle” you can find a old poster that’s for sale that’s supposedly much older than the Discworld books.

    Great story, Kory! Looking forward to the next.

    @Olddog1: There was even more to it than that. Breathed said that Oliphant thought that Breathed copied Opus from Punk. Breathed said that he didn’t even know that Punk was a penguin. (Who would have known?) Anyway, Breathed was rubbing in Opus’s success compared to Punk’s.

    @The Nihilist
    So far the takers have been only taking children, so it’s not as if homeowners are disappearing. Records seem to be changed as well as memories. If Jerry had died, it would have looked like a natural death.

    @Kory: I’m glad you liked the article about the hellbender hunt. I was afraid you might not see the comment since it was posted over the weekend. (For those not following see the comments for Friday’s page, near the bottom. It probably inspired the Heckbender comments today. :) )

    I’m thinking it’s probably Mrs. Goatsucker in today’s page, though. I’m thinking she and Lucius won’t get along so well…

    It’s a little off-topic here, but this news story is a good example of life imitating art. The art is Kory’s first LSoS story in this case.

    No, it was just about buying tickets to an early morning showing of the movie. I assume it would be Sunday night / Monday morning. I hope it’s OK to include the link. http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/comics/sforth.html

    I believe the copyright on the substituted comic says 2009. The date says 7-26. July 26, 2009 was a Sunday, so that matches.

    So, was that really from a SUNY creative writing class? Or from a graduate of a SUNY creative writing class? :) Or a graduate of SUNY who didn’t need to take creative writing?

    Thanks for explaining.
