Oh, you stole my thunder, scottie4851! Yes, Eligius is the patron saint of vets AND yes, rsketch, it IS a wink to the finale of St. Elsewhere. You guys are all so sharp!

I wish I had one more week to share with you, but I think it’s fitting to leave it here and let the Dog and Tortoise decide where they want to be tomorrow. A decision I’ll let you all make with them.

Your comments are so appreciated and inspiring. I guess I should get to work on a Little Dog compilation! I don’t know what plans GoComics has for reruns, but I do hope to see you all again at some point in the future. (Like maybe a quick post to Facebook at Halloween?)

    Please stay in touch

Hi, Maizing, yes I can confirm! So sorry to be so bad about the promotional side of Little Dog Lost. I only just made the announcement in yesterday’s comments section. It’s been a wonderful 10 years with all of you and the Dog. I can’t thank you enough for giving him a home.
    Best, Steve B

The Dog is having those same feelings of deja vu you’re describing, Dry and Dusty. And as many of you have suspected, yes he IS getting closer to home. After 10 years on the road, it would only seem fair to let the Dog finally arrive.

Like him, I’ve had a few big changes of my own over the last 3,395 strips – including the birth of three wonderful kids (a new one just last month, in fact! Hence my recent hiatus). I have decided it’s time to retire Little Dog Lost, at the end of this month.

I can’t adequately express my thanks to you all for following the adventures of Dog and Turtle (Tortoise!), Vulture and Crow. Your readership and your comments brought a smile to my face every single day as I hope I’ve been able to bring to yours.

I hope you’ll stop by the Little Dog Facebook page from time to time, as I have an inkling he may get loose every now and then. Your friendship has made this little dog feel at home, even from way across the other side of the highway.

Thank you! Please stay in touch

Wow! Really glad to hear LDL is one of your favorites! Yesterday’s “ominous” cartoon was actually drawn in 2011 and re-ran as part of an extended sabbatical I’ve been on this summer. Sorry for the radio silence! Dog will be back with some new ones on Monday. Thanks for following the dog!

Thank you, Jo Clear! It really means a lot to know you’re out there everyday with the Dog (and ol’ Buzz). Means that he’s never really lost, is he? I’m glad to bring you a new month of strips beginning after the holiday weekend. Thanks so much!

My heart goes out to you dhillsr. Dogs deserve to live forever but they only grace us with a decade or so. I put my dog down the year I started Little Dog Lost and I think that has always flavored the strip a little. Thanks for sharing.

Aha, very perceptive of you, tcar-1! I struggled with how to make this one work since it’s been established that the dog CAN’T read… Sooooo, I figured we could just join this little scene right AFTER the tortoise has read the bumper sticker out loud to the dog. (I’ll just tell people I left that first panel off so I could draw it faster.) Thanks for noticing!

Thanks for your concern, prairiedogdance. Yes, the story has moved on from the blind baby squirrels, but I can tell you that they did make it back to their nest where they fully developed their eyesight. Rest assured, I will see to it that they grow into healthy adults so they can be eaten in a future installment of Little Dog Lost. ;)

It’s not your logic, Fiammata, I’m afraid it’s my coloring today! They’re supposed to be on a rocky cave floor but I see I forgot to throw some soil around the bottom of that tree… Or maybe the tree is just growing up through the rock… Nature is amazing that way, you know? ;)
