Doesn’t the CN in “CN news” stand for “Cat News”? So they keep saying “Cat News news”?

If the clerk’s name tag is enlarged it reads, “Call me Ishmael”

For the confused youngsters: This strip is a callback to an old George Carlin routine where he combined the two commonly used phrases that meant “confused” – “He don’t know S&^% from Shinola” and “I don’t know whether to S&^% or wind my watch” into “I guess I’ll S&^% on my watch!”

Feh. That dad’s an amateur. Any time someone is coming at you intending to tickle, all you need to do is focus on the fact that the tickle response is just a matter of fear tension and its release. In other words, someone is getting past your guard when they tickle you and when you consciously realize they aren’t doing harm, you laugh. To short circuit the laughter, just make a conscious point of recognizing that the tickler does not intend harm and – in the case of children – cannot harm you.

My kids thought I had UnderArmor on all the time. And they could never figure out why Mom could always get through it.

Born-n-bred Texan here and I never heard of a Texas sheet cake, but it’s a big state, so I expect there’s lots of things I’ve never heard of from Texas. May Dad used to make a pineapple upside down cake in a cast iron skillet that was bigger’n Dallas that might qualify as a Texas sheet cake.

Latin nerd here: Vomitoria were indeed part of amphitheater design in Ancient Rome, but contrary to popular misconceptions, they were not rooms dedicated to vomiting. A vomitorium was simply a passageway for exiting the amphitheater.

    It’s a mule/donkey/jackass that’s led with a carrot strung on a stick, not a rabbit.
