Dogday88 said I have not met my unicorn yet. Wrong. I met him a ton of years ago, a beautiful palomino with an invisible horn. Like Phoebe i rode my unicorn many times bareback without anything in his mouth or on his head. Just me and my unicorn. All I did was talk to him, never kicked him in the ribs, never used a crop on him. Just “walk, trot, canter, whoa, stay” with slight knee pressure to direct him.

Recently I discovered Phoebe and Her Unicorn. It is a delightful strip. I’ve plowed through all of the strips since April 22, 2012, the earliest one I could find. Fascinating story line with a fine mixture of reality and fantasy.

Fabulous symbolic recreation of the Graf Zeppelin disaster at Lakehurst, New Jersey in 1939?

Correct me if I’m wrong but I was taught bicyclists have as much right to the road as car drivers. In fact as a grade school kid a neighbor drove up behind me on a narrow high crowned street and blew his horn. I swerved, almost falling. I unleashed a string of invective at him. He told my mother. She wanted me to go apologize to him. I said I would if he apologized first for almost causing a serious accident. End of story. Another a.. hole got his just deserts.

olderthandirt Looks like we have reached stasis. Politically? Socially? Economically?

I recognize so many but can no longer put names to the characters. Good to see Toonerville Trolley still running.

Color or no, story line or references, it is very nostalgic for someone who grew up following the daily comics in the ‘40’s. May I have some more, please?

I learned to read from Prince Valiant comics. Comics have been the highlight of my day for about 70 years and counting.
