Something tells me that nuance of wording reflects something of Lucy’s belief that the whole world revolves around her anyway.

But, Linus, they blew up the core reactor of the Death Star on some idle Tuesday (reference: “Everybody’s Free to Embrace the Dark Side”)…

Yeah, Dr. Wong boxed himself in, but Merala’s ability to be in exactly the right place at the right time is really getting annoying!

That’s the fallacy. “Ideal” relationships are not conflict-free. There is a difference between conflict and abuse – and if anything, a bigger difference between laughing at the causes of constructive conflict and laughing at abuse. Almost nobody seems to think of these things.

There is a branch of psychology which shows that several comments made here are half-truths. Some people have both the gits and the inclination to help others get straightened out. Where better to begin than getting the log out of one’s own eye before one tries to get the speck out of another’s?

It’s not Lucy’s amateur status or even her self-importance that’s the core problem (even in play) – it’s her unwillingness to do that basic thing. It colors everything she does in PEANUTS. It’s meant to do so.
