    When I got stationed in Bethesda, MD, the first thing I did on a free weekend, was visit the D.C. mall and climb up and down the steps in the Washington Monument. Climbing down felt more difficult than climbing up. There were a lot of interesting carved stones with names of groups who donated materials to building the monument.     So true. They elevated Charlie Hebdo from a relatively obscure local publication to world fame status. But the loss of those lives was a very painful way to do it.
