I miss the earlier me too. I was late for the dentist last week and had to sit in the office for an extra hour…

I just finished reading The Caine Muntiny. Some critical differences from the movie, giving us more insight to the madness of Capt. Queeg. I think it’s better than the movie — and I rank the movie as one of my top 10.

That reminds me of a real-life event.
I was at one of the early Star Trek fan conventions (so early it didn’t even have “Star Trek” in its name). I was in a panel discussion with some of the writers and go to ask David Gerrold his inspiration for the classic episode “The Trouble With Tribbles”.
    His deadpan answer —
    “A paycheck.”

So — when was the last regular production car that didn’t have “power” windows?

OH MY CAT!! This is so funny on so many levels. I’m just glad that I read it before my students came into the room because they would be certain that their teacher had totally lost it — roaring with laughter.
(Another good point — I won’t be awarding stickers to students until the new school year starts — we have two days left — because if I did that now, I wouldn’t be able to keep a straight face.)
Puck with his newspaper — hilarious and creepy at the same time.
The alligator potty — that has to be based on a real life “fixture” (but the name caca-dile is just precious).

    Beyond,
The rim of the Star Light.
    My Love,
    Is wand’ring in Star-Flight.
    I know,
    He’ll find in Star-Clustered reaches,
    Love,
    Strange love a Star-Woman teaches.
    I know,
    His journey ends never.
    His Star-Trek,
    Will go on for-ever.
    So tell him,
While he wanders his Starry Sea,
    Remember.
    Remember me!

I have the sure-fire answer for the abysmal test scores, appaling obesity rates, and overall academic malaise that has become endemic.

Just lower the accepted standards. Math — if the student can tell that 7 and 9 are different (no need to extrapolate as to how they are different…) then s/he will be regarded as “proficient”. Same for History — George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, and Alan Dershowitz were guys from the past. Science — well, we all know Science is tough, so let’s just let that one go. English — just as simple. English is the language spokened by many Americans. What else does we knead to no?

Heck, with this solution, Americans will be able to rise to the very top of academia in no time a’tol!

The Toronto Blue Jays have starting times that end with :07 (such as 7:07 or 1:07). There is a story, but I forget it at the moment.

Who knew Elvis was not only freaky, but deaky as well.
