As time goes by, said payment becomes more expensive to Elly as Elizabeth’s marginal utility decreases….

In other words, Elly has decreasing patience and expects more out of her daughter in due time because Elizabeth gets less cutesy-pootsie as she gets older.

In actuality, just like dogs, bulls are color blind. Contrary to popular belief, they do not act on red. A matador’s cape could be red, cyan, or rainbow colored and they would not know. What instigates the bulls is the waving moving.

Elly talks about Connie behind her back to Anne, and then sometimes she talks about Anne behind her back, so that is some friend. As for the breakup of Lynn Johnston’s second marriage, it is tough to say what is truth and what is fiction. Lynn tried to make a media circus out of the event by her playing the victim, accusing her husband of everything from adultery to killing JFK. Naturally, that backfired on her. Rod Johnston pretty much kept quiet, which was to his advantage. He did not emulate Bill Clinton’s attitude of trying to be “Mr. Cool Guy” during the accusations; just let it all run its course.

Please recycle your old glass, paper, plastic and metals. Lynn Johnston recycles as well; she recycles jokes. This strip was done again with April when she insisted she didn’t want her mother to cut her hair, only not to be able to watch where she was going and then go get her bangs cut off at a beauty salon. Come to think of it, April was a great way to rehash a lot of Elizabeth jokes.

Lynn Johnston is the prime example of a “limousine liberal”; her money and status distanced her from the poor and middle class she purports to feel for in this comic.

It could also be that the phone was disconnected due to bumping the phone or outside interference. EIther way, Michael is so out to lunch that he failed to notice the call was dropped.

With all that junk food he is eating; Michael is going to have nightmares. A good nightmare is where he wakes up to find himself in the Soviet Union, with constant shortages and him being ordered to do everything, no individualism. Since Michael boasts that he has joined the “ranks of the deprived”, he would find himself in the USSR and God would tell him “I gave you exactly what you wanted, Michael. How does it feel?”

Or with all that junk food eating, maybe his name is better as “Moinkel Porkerson”! :P
