    You have no idea of your country’s history. The railroads are and were corrupt organizations propped up by graft and corruption (how did they obtain the rights-of way that they run on? Look into it, sunshine). Historically, they charged as high a rate as they could to carry goods to market, and were never checked by their bought members of legislatures.
    they controlled entire legislatures, and as a fillip in the 1970s, caused the creation of Amtrak because carrying passengers wasn’t profitable for them. So, no, railroad companies in the US have never been civic-minded organizations, as you would know if you had ever taken your head out of your bottom and studied your country’s history.
