    Radio Shack was doomed to inevitable failure when it was acquired by Tandy Corporation in 1962. Just because Tandy was good at selling leather handicrafts didn’t mean that it knew anything about retail electronics. And it didn’t.

    In every way, going to a Radio Shack store became an more and more irritating experience, especially if you were knowledgeable about electronics.

    Could simply be that she expected to have the house to herself for an extended period of time. Also, this was back in the day when there were only landline telephones. She could have been expecting an important call from Bernice about Aaron Hill’s latest activities.
