Leonard Bernstein’s ‘Chichester Psalms’ is written in pretty much any tempo except 3/4, 4/4, or anything else remotely normal. When our church choir did it, I think I just went with the flow and didn’t really try to count it. For one thing, I was trying very hard to keep up with the phonetic Hebrew. It was a weird sort of fun, though.
I thought maybe he was keeping time to various swimming strokes—or multiplying the number or feet or yards he’d done. . .

God bless the paramedics, police, fire fighters, emergency room personnel, and all those who help keep us safe in spite of our own bad luck or sheer stupidity. Also those who work on holidays to feed us and entertain us.

@Naabuquduriuzhur: I gather than face masks are just not the done thing for bicyclists? Because it sounds as if you need one!
    Love ‘Starbugs’!

I’m pretty much a total classical music fan, and preferably old classical music; but certain examples of pretty much any genre have tremendous nostalgic value.

I like it. If the prince is smart, he’ll help her out finding a job and then propose again later if he still wants too.

Interesting, the near complete character/role reversal of the girls in these early strips vs the later ones.

Good for her! Unusual incentive, perhaps, but she by-golly got in there and worked. Congratulations!

I find it interesting how Holly’s and Alix’s roles seem reversed at this point. Maybe Holly is still twelve now, and not quite a terrible teenager/awful adolescent.
