Indians vs ‘East Indians’ when I was growing up. Or, as the Brits say—or said—‘Indians vs Red Indians.’

I still like the term, though, although there are those who consider it very non PC. I don’t know why: it’s a beautiful time that the new settlers assumed the local ‘savages’ enjoyed and benefitted from. (Yes, I know: ‘savages’ is terribly un-PC. It’s a period term.)

Oh, Caulfield, how very true! When I’m reading the light, fun stuff (nearly always), I point out to potential critics that I’ve completed two literature majors. I HAVE read ‘serious’ stuff.’ Now I’m reading for fun.

How about getting the shot AND trying to be extra careful with hygiene?

@comicsssfan: Didn’t know we were talking about sons. Jean and I were referring to this strip about Holly.

@Jean: I agree entirely. That is a loving mother!

@Richard S Russell: Caulfield’s father is finishing—or has finished a doctorate in pharmacology; his mother is a civil engineer; and they have a French poodle. There’s a bit more information in some of the earlier strips, too; I just don’t remember precisely.

Leonard Bernstein’s ‘Chichester Psalms’ is written in pretty much any tempo except 3/4, 4/4, or anything else remotely normal. When our church choir did it, I think I just went with the flow and didn’t really try to count it. For one thing, I was trying very hard to keep up with the phonetic Hebrew. It was a weird sort of fun, though.
I thought maybe he was keeping time to various swimming strokes—or multiplying the number or feet or yards he’d done. . .

God bless the paramedics, police, fire fighters, emergency room personnel, and all those who help keep us safe in spite of our own bad luck or sheer stupidity. Also those who work on holidays to feed us and entertain us.

@Naabuquduriuzhur: I gather than face masks are just not the done thing for bicyclists? Because it sounds as if you need one!
    Love ‘Starbugs’!
