Kip, fortunately, I had nothing in my mouth at the time I read this post. I would have had to self-Heimlich. ‘Phobophobic’; have mercy.

@ Tom: You have made the usual claim that “Voter ID” seeks to get rid of multi-voting and post-mortem voting.

Some number of Federal courts are beginning to find that restrictions on voting that have made their way into several states via Republican governments are aimed at solving a problem that is not really there, as the actual incidence is extremely low. Here are two links, one from the Washington Post, and one from the Wall Street Journal.

Could there be another motivation for this Republican movement?

    This “press conference” thing:
I have followed presidential elections back to at least Kennedy – Nixon. I do not remember thinking about candidate press conferences, probably because the presidential campaigns have increasingly become rotating, traveling media events with more paths than I really need (example: Facebook; don’t need it, not on it). Mr. Trump and some others are pointing to a long time since Ms. Clinton’s last press conference. Over the same time, we’ve had a barrage of coverage on Ms. Clinton.

This “press conference thing” is a bag of stale air. A non-issue. A chimera.

News to me. Did he leave voluntarily? Or, was he ejected for failure to ‘do the Right thing’? I see that he was GW Bush’s Deputy AG from 2002 – 2005.

In sum: you don’t have proof that this stuff is “factually correct”.

Comey did not say she was innocent or guilty. He basically said that no reasonable prosecutor would bring charges. He is the cop, and not the prosecutor. He is also a fairly hard Republican, It says a lot that he issued what amounts to a case of there-isn’t-really-much-there statement, tuned as critical as he thought he could make it.

Here is a segment of Comey’s press statement on the subject. Enjoy reading:

—"Although there is evidence of potential violations of the statutes regarding the handling of classified information, our judgment is that no reasonable prosecutor would bring such a case. Prosecutors necessarily weigh a number of factors before bringing charges. There are obvious considerations, like the strength of the evidence, especially regarding intent. Responsible decisions also consider the context of a person’s actions, and how similar situations have been handled in the past.

In looking back at our investigations into mishandling or removal of classified information, we cannot find a case that would support bringing criminal charges on these facts. All the cases prosecuted involved some combination of: clearly intentional and willful mishandling of classified information; or vast quantities of materials exposed in such a way as to support an inference of intentional misconduct; or indications of disloyalty to the United States; or efforts to obstruct justice. We do not see those things here.

To be clear, this is not to suggest that in similar circumstances, a person who engaged in this activity would face no consequences. To the contrary, those individuals are often subject to security or administrative sanctions. But that is not what we are deciding now.

As a result, although the Department of Justice makes final decisions on matters like this, we are expressing to Justice our view that no charges are appropriate in this case."

    B.O.: You said:
“I’m pretty sure that Trump will take whatever support he can get, the same way that Hillary will take millions in “donations” from countries where LGBT persons are routinely put to death while seeking the support of the LGBT community at home.”
So, it is up to you to prove that this stuff is “factually correct”.
    Please go find some proof.
