I carry my iPhone in my jeans pocket and have been reading my Kindled way through Sue Grafton’s alphabet mysteries, up to “R”. So handy, generally cheap, and I wouldn’t be buying these as “real” books as I have thousands of THEM which I treasure and have no shelf space left for more. Also like reading in bed in the dark with iPhone in my hand, lightweight, if I fall asleep it just nestles in.

In mid May in the Manchester airport waiting to go through customs, watched two policemen nearby each armed with one of those big AK whatevers. Scene somehow didn’t look British.

My best, funniest days always start with finding a Richard’s Poor Almanac!

Not all of us in 70s park on the couch, last week in Dubuque saw Tommy Lee Jones in “Emperor”, new noir film about MacArthur, Gen. Teller, and Hirohito. No popcorn. But also love Netflix and YouTube films as well. What riches!

I love this strip but my cat (Shadow Remington Bigfoot) refuses to look at it on screen. Occasionally will sit on it in newspapers.

Farm kids in Iowa I knew used to toboggan down a steep hill that had a barb wire fence across the bottom. They all just laid back and swooped under each time. 1940s.

Grant Wood didn’t paint a FLAT Iowa! There are nice, roundy hills on the east and west sides, just flat farmland in the middle.

I can attest to the mango connection to the poison ivy challenge. First time I ate one I peeled it and tried to eat it over the sink, got juice all over my face and broke out not long after. A friend enlightened me to the biological connection with poison ivy. I carefully peel with a knife now and eat small pieces with a fork!

In a bookbinding class I once watched two portly older women joyfully attempting to bind stacks and stacks of The Lighthouse pamphlets. Never could figure out if they’d been on the giving or receiving end.

It’s a brave kitty who’ll actually put his warm furry feet into that cold wet white stuff.
