Ahh to be young, and waiting (im)patiently for your inheritance come in as you grow.

I fully remember being her age, cooterin’ around after school, and in summer. Fightin’ off them boychilds, as they chased me around the hollars. Hair pullin’, and frogs down shirts. Telling my old uncle “Why yew couldn’t hit a bull in the ass, uncle gunk!” when he took me out target practicing. Of course I could put out the bull’s eye at 300 yards but that’s another lie-tale (giggles)

Not to worry, Honey! You’ll be sparking interest in the boys very soon.

Happy birthday, Gweedo! May you have many more in the future.

We need more like Justin, and BO in the area it seems :).

Everyone stay safe. While you can, get stocked up on groceries, and water, and salt. Don’t go about shoveling snow, after all, unless it’s an emergency, it’ll be gone soon. Salt will clear up paths even if it will take a bit more time.

And remember, in an emergency call 1-800-DICK TRACY :)

Here here. And Jack Benny was still tormenting poor Mel Blanc in a department store.

Oh and not to forget Jerry Lewis mind a store? Those women was amazons! (giggles)

Oh this was a delight! Dethany, and I are like sisters. We’re both oddballs in offices of tradition. We’re both stubborn individualists, and we both love Dick Tracy :).

    Wonderful strip, team tracy!

For ones who’d like to keep up with all of Mr. Hollbrooks’ strips (All are excellent.) Here is the current list.

Ah, this is the long awaited ‘meet and greet’ thread I read about. Very nice! I can’t wait to see one special detective now. :)

An interesting turn of events. Especially with the possible ‘queen’ of the group appearing. I have a strong feeling, that she is more a figurehead, than actual power within the group.

Notice in the 3rd panel, she doesn’t appear to be as confident and also her dialog as well. More subservient, and interesting indeed.

That was something that Jack Benny lamented about moving from Radio to TV. On Radio you could do highly elaborate gags like The Vault with just a sound effects guy, Mel Blanc and Joe Kearns at the end as Ed the security guard. On TV if you went into the vault you had to show the steps, the death traps, the alligator, the vault door and then someone as the security guard. It was highly elaborate – and expensive – for not that great of a return in terms of laughs. Jack once said that the best TV version of the Vault gag wasn’t done on his TV show but on Lucille Ball’s show where they had more money available, and could make the vault a big portion of the episode.

Part of the reason why “The Mouse That Jack Built” was so great was that Jack and his whole cast, including Mary Livingston who was mostly retired by that time, were active participants in the cartoon. Reportedly the only payment Jack asked for doing his own voice on the cartoon was a copy of the print for himself.

That was very interesting, Sask. Some of that I’d heard before, such as the cartoon. But the rest was news to me. Especially Ms. Ball’s show having more money. Mr. Benny’s show was a big hit for many years. Thank you!
