The thing with Chicago and gun laws is that the usual narrative reverses cause and effect. The gun laws are strict because of the high levels of gun-related crime, rather than the gun crime being caused by the laws disarming citizens. However, that situation does point up the limitations of localized gun control. It doesn’t do much good to restrict guns in a city if people can drive an hour to a place with much looser laws and load up on firearms to take home.
