Again, Mr Tom misunderstands world history. After their misadventure in Ukraine, the US and European neoliberals and neocons celebrate destroying Russia’s economy. The irony is that they created it after the dissolution of the old Empire, but knee-jerk hatred runs deep.

Wow, wrong view, here, Tom Toles. The Ukraine is already sunk close to “economic collapse” due to its brutal war against its ethnic Russian Eastern citizens. Only IMF and NATO aid keep it afloat, and that aid comes with a horrific cost. Russia, on the other hand, is poised to abandon the dollar as international currency, negate debt to the west, maybe cut off gas to Western Europe, and, most striking, join with India, China, Iran, Brazil, and others to form their own currency exchange. The Ukraine debacle has turned out poorly for the US, Europe, and NATO, and maybe (but not likely) the neo-conservatives who instigated the crisis are a bit sorry for their ambition.

This is old news, but the real twist is that the Texas Board of Education in their rewriting of American history must have learned from the master!

As John says, please return the old format! I love this strip, but it is now hard to see and hard to read.

I do not understand the hammer and sickle reference to the Soviet Union. The symbol of Chinese communism is the Red Star. This drawing is cute but makes no sense at all.

Blood on hands? Victoria Nulan and the US State Department encouraged this fascist coup in Kiev. Again, cui bono? Putin gets no benefit from this tragedy, so I ask why would he order this plane blown up? I want to know why that plane was where it was in the first place. Are the Malaysians so incompetent to fly over a war zone? Were they directed there by Kiev Air Control? The fascist Kiev government certainly would benefit by this kind of accident.

Why demonize Putin, who although may be a tyrant, has not been proven the agent of this tragedy? Why not cartoon Kiev Air Control for sending that plane in harm’s way?

Funny, but this cartoon seems to imply a parity of missiles and destruction that does not actually exist.

I cannot imagine any benefit to Putin or the Ukrainian rebels resulting from downing this airplane. What motive could they possibly have? On the other hand, the European and American elites do have a motive to inflame this conflict.

You are kind of jumping to conclusions. I ask, “What would be the motive for the KGB to down this plane?” KGB as actor is a narrative that makes no sense.
