My company actually forced the manpower forecasts to use 110%, assuming overtime would cover it. It just caused chronic under staffing.

A few years ago when NASA sent a probe into Jupiter, I noticed that the point at which the pressure got to about 1 earth atmosphere was where it was about room temperature. Too bad the atmosphere there is completely toxic. And being mostly hydrogen/helium might make it challenging to get something to float.

I was in a university biology class where we had to cut off a frog’s head with scissors and then jam a probe down its spine — creating a ‘pithed’ frog. That grossed me out.

Computers already drive subway trains automatically. New York, London, Hong Kong, Las Vegas, San Francisco, Paris, Vancouver all have automatic train control. There may be drivers, but they don’t do much and aren’t necessary. Computer control is way safer compared to human control.

How do you get a trillion worlds around each single sun? Ok, let’s not be picky… if there were 10^27 worlds, etc. Those odds sound pretty good, actually. Even without supposing that all you need is a self replicating molecule that is subject to natual selection. You get complex life in no time.
