I’ve mentioned this before on here, but if Darby would put out a book with all of Fungo’s strip I would but it. Add in a Mac book as well. :)

It was probably 10 years ago at least. We were have our roof redone. My youngest was in high school. I’m playing on the computer. She comes into my room and says, “the roof fell on my head”. I didn’t turn around since I was in a game and this is a kid that is ALWAYS into something. I just said give me a sec (I think I was playing a game). I finally turn around and she’s covered in insulation, & sheetrock. I asked her what happened. It was too funny. She took a deep breath and said, ’THE ROOF FELL ON MY HEAD!" I went into her room and sure enough there was a hole in the ceiling. One of the guys had put his foot through the ceiling. Thankfully the hammer he was holding got caught on a wire, otherwise that would have hit her as well. The guys said the dude had done the same thing 6 weeks earlier!. I cleaned her up, and that was when I found out about the itchiness of insulation. We are both VERY fair, so of course she had an allergic reaction. Her face was flushed for a few days. My older daughter put on whatever social media they were using the exact words her sister said. Phone calls started coming from friends and family asking if she was ok. For the record ceiling and roof are NOT the same things! lol

I have a Kia Amanti that I love. It’s almost 10 years old, but only has 61000 miles on it. I had always wanted a Jaguar, but I saw this and fell in love. Of course they stopped making them in 2011. The last few years didn’t look like mine anyway.

My point was that I will still find Christmas tree remnants until Easter. Move the sofa and low and behold there’s another one Mind you it’s the sofa that was moved the week prior and vacced under. Right when the last of the bloody needles is gone it is time for Easter. You then spend the next 5 months finding Easter grass, until it is replaced with the tree. It is an unending cycle! Until you kids get married and move away.

Yep, I’ve learned NEVER tell a guy his car is so cute, totally emasculates them.

When the tornado hit the house I figured I could just wash the sheets and towels. The insurance inspector AND my mother both said NO. The insulation fibers would embed into the cloth. I am a very honest person, so when the inspector was here I was worried about the bed. The bottom part had gotten rained on, but the mattresses were almost 14 years old anyways. He said the age didn’t matter. What did was they were no longer safe to use. The way my policy is written items are insured at the cost of placing them today, not the original purchase price. The tornado was in 2011 and I still occasionally find insulation. The stuff is as bad as needles from FAKE Christmas trees and Easter grass.

I’m going to guess “Jenifer” had never seen the “Irish need not apply” signs and that she was never taught in school about the Irish slaves brought to Canada. Of my 4 grandparents 1 was fully Scottish, 1 was a mix of everything, & the other 2 were Irish. They families arrived to America 60 years apart. When the first ones arrived it was okay to be Irish. When the second ones came things had changed and they dropped the “Mc” from the family name.

In high school my “Minorities Studies” teacher was president of the local chapter of the NAACP. Coincidentally the one that was bombed a few weeks back. It’s been almost 30 years, so I am sure he wasn’t there. We would get into huge debates over racism. His very class was racist. We spent 1 week on the Asian American, 2 weeks on the Native Americans, & 2 MONTHS on the “African-Americans”. The fact that Asia is the largest continent and covers everything from Chinese & Indians to Persians & Jews was a little insulting for them to have a only a week. Native Americans are always lumped together, but each tribe was unique. I will say this for him. He didn’t sugar-coat the conditions of the black man in Africa of the time. The image of white guys running around & grabbing blacks in erroneous. Most slaves were already slaves in Africa. That fact that it still occurs is what’s really frightening.

On the subject of the actual strip it still amazes me that people ever thought that there should be 2 standards. My daughter is married to a Marine. She’s white (very white, takes after me strawberry-blond & very pale skin) and he’s black. I see these things on the news and I worry for HIS safety. He did 4 tours in Iraq, but I am more worried about him here in the US. His brother and my girls have been friends since 2003. One night I drove the brother and another friend of the girls (since kindergarten) (he’s half white, 1/4 black &1/4 Puerto Rican. In other words he “looks” dark) home. They were still in high school, so 2005-2006ish. We are all standing at the back of my car: a 30ish white chick, 2 white teen girls and 2 “black” teen boys. We were just saying goodbye. Anyway a county sheriff (white) stopped to “make sure everything was ok”. Considering when I have needed the police to pull over and help (I was flashing my lights and honking my horn) and was totally ignored this episode has always stuck in my craw.
