daDoctah, thanks for the memories. My father said his boss at university use to say the same thing when someone would call him with a complaint. If he couldn’t settle it; he would say “you just may be right” which would take the steam out of them and they would hang up. I’ve used it many times in my life and it always worked.

You hit it beviek. It always brought out the “possibilities” to me. Possibly I was going to enjoy the year. Possibly I would like my teacher. Possibly I would make it to the next grade.

Now I know what my parents meant when they said “this is going to hurt me more than you”. I never gave it much thought until I saw Elly’s comment today.

A friend of mine and I built a deck for my wife when we were dating (me and my wife, not my friend). Cost us $2400.00 in supplies and beer. Did a great job. The next year we got married; she sold her place and the buyer murdered his wife. The police thought he was hiding in the house (mobile home) and trashed it by breaking all the windows and throwing in flash bangs. Insurance company totaled the home and it was towed away. The deck came through unscathed and was still beautiful. Man that was some deck!
